Chinese AI startup DeepSeek is building a data centre in Inner Mongolia–an autonomous region of China and is actively hiring staff, as per a new job vacancy posted by the AI company.
As per the latest job description posted by DeepSeek on its official website, the company is hiring for an IDC Data Centre Team (Operations and Maintenance) in Ulanqab region under south-central Inner Mongolia.
Ulanqab is a prefecture level city (above a county but below a province) in South-central Inner Mongolia region with Jining district as administrative centre.
Known for its open-weight AI models built at extremely low cost, DeepSeek had made global headlines in early 2025 with launch of DeepSeek AI model that had caused major market upheavals.
According to the job posting by DeepSeek, the recruitment areas for the upcoming data centre in Inner Mongolia include Data Center Infrastructure Operations, Data Center Planning and Design, Data Center On-Site Management.
“We are not just building data centers, but the infrastructure upon which future AI agents will depend. Power, cooling, networking, and computing systems will be deeply coupled here, with every kilowatt-hour of electricity, every watt of cooling, and every scheduling action directly impacting the final computing output,” read the job description by DeepSeek (Note: Original Simplified Chinese translated to English using Google tools).
Historically China’s autonomous region Inner Mongolia and present day Mongolia were part of a unified Mongolia however the former came under China’s control in 1911 after the collapse of Qing Dynasty while the modern day Mongolia declared independence backed by the Soviet in 1921.
