More than 20 technology companies, among them Meta, NVIDIA, Microsoft and Palantir, have jointly urged Congress to promote open-weight AI models, arguing that concentrating advanced capability behind a handful of closed systems weakens competition and creates single points of failure.

In a post on X, the company said AI sovereignty determines an institution’s future, adding that sovereignty is the precondition for choice — and slammed “tokenmaxxing,” the pursuit of high AI token usage that it says creates an addictive feeling of false progress.
