EU AI Act Amendment Takes Effect Today, Delays High-risk Rules to 2027-28, Bans AI Deepfake Nudity

The EU's Digital Omnibus on AI, Regulation (EU) 2026/1744, took effect on 27 July 2026.

The changes adopted through Regulation (EU) 2026/1744 are aimed at reducing compliance burdens, clarifying legal obligations and strengthening safeguards against AI-enabled harms without weakening the bloc’s core protections for health, safety and fundamental rights.

Over 2 Million Children Have Used AI for Advice on Things That Affect Them: UNICEF

A UNICEF study has found that atleast 2 million children have turned to AI chatbots to discuss issues that affect them.

According to the survey by UNICEF, which is based on data from 10 countries, at least 20 million children have used AI and many are outpacing adults by adopting it at rates more than three times faster.
