SEMICON India 2026 Begins September 17 With 600+ Companies and 52 Countries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 on September 17 in New Delhi. The three-day event, held from September 17-19, is themed on ‘Silicon to systems: Building the ecosystem’ and will bring together companies, policymakers, investors, researchers, startups, academia and students from across the semiconductor and electronics sector.

According to the Indian government, the SEMICON conference will focus on advancing collaboration, investment, innovation and talent development in India. The event will showcase the semiconductor materials, equipment and chip design to fabrication, advanced packaging, electronics and systems.

SEMICON India 2026 will feature more than 600 participating companies and is expected to attract around 50,000 visitors, with representatives from 52 countries, more than 400 executives and over 150 speakers.

 

The exhibition will feature six country pavilions representing Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and Sweden, along with 12 state booths, a startup pavilion, innovation showcase, student hackathon and workforce development pavilion.

The Indian government launched the SEMICON India programme in 2021. According to the government, SEMICON 1.0 came with a ₹76,000 crore outlay. Covering the entire value chain from chip design and fabrication to packaging, testing, equipment, materials and skilled talent.

In July 2026, the government approved SEMICON 2.0, scaling that foundation with a ₹1,27,500 crore outlay. This is built around six pillars: chip design, semiconductor equipment and materials, fabrication facilities, advanced packaging, research and development, and talent development.

The government mentioned that till now 12 semiconductor projects have been approved across six states, with investment commitments exceeding ₹1.64 lakh crore. The projects span across silicon and compound semiconductor fabs, display fabrication and advanced packaging and three facilities have already started commercial production
