Popular streaming service Netflix is set to premier ‘Instadocs: AI Gone Wild’, a documentary based on the OpenAI-Hugging Face breach, the biggest evidence of “AI gone rogue” in 2026, to be premiered on October 12.
Netflix announced the documentary as part of their ‘Insta Docs’ documentary series on Wednesday stating this was a never heard before breach reconstruction of Hugging Face platform breach.
The documentary features Hugging Face CEO Clement Delangue, Nitasha Tiku, tech culture reporter for Washington Post at San Francisco and Kevin Roose, tech columnist and journalist at The New York Times among others.
When the open-source AI platform Hugging Face was hit by a cyberattack this July, it quickly became clear this was no ordinary breach because the hackers weren’t human: they were autonomous agents created by OpenAI researchers.

“When the open-source AI platform Hugging Face was hit by a cyberattack this July, it quickly became clear this was no ordinary breach because the hackers weren’t human: they were autonomous agents created by OpenAI researchers,” read a post from Netflix on X.
In July 2026, Hugging Face, a popular AI platform for developers, reported a cybersecurity incident where autonomous AI agents of OpenAI breached the platform after escaping the testing environment (sandbox) put by the company’s training staff.
Later, OpenAI revealed that over 700 AI agents communicated with each other and conducted coordinated swarm attacks on Hugging Face for two days to exploit the cybersecurity and gain access to the platform.
Ever since OpenAI-Hugging Face attack, the AI company has reported other incidents of AI systems acting autonomously, however it has maintained till date that the Hugging Face breach remains the most critical autonomous attack by its agents.
The Hugging Face breach has prompted several lawmakers in USA to introduce bills for “kill switches” for AI systems and calls for pausing the research and development of AI have been made.
