Prometheus, Jeff Bezos’s newest AI venture has announced a $12 billion funding round, putting the valuation of AI startup at $41 billion. Prometheus, an artificial intelligence startup was launched in November 2025 with initial $6.2 billion in funding, with a vision to build ‘artificial general engineer- an AI system that builds complex physical products.
Bezos, who resigned from his post of CEO at Amazon in 2021 serves as Co-CEO of the AI- based company alongside Vik Bajaj. Bajaj is currently a professor at Stanford University’s School of Medicine. He has previously co-founded Google Life Sciences, later named Verily, where he served as chief science officer (CSO).
In his interview with CNBC, Bezos revealed that Prometheus is in the process of developing a set of AI tools to help engineers design and manufacture physical products easier and faster.
Bezos expressed that it’s still premature to disclose what Prometheus has achieved, but its accomplishments are quite remarkable. He further stressed that the latest funding will help the company to acquire more compute.
Prometheus is primarily not focused on chatbots or AI assistants. It aims to build what Bezos calls an “artificial general engineer” – an AI system which can help design, test and manufacture complex physical products.
Meanwhile in his conversation with CNBC, Bezos denied the speculations that rapid development in AI will lead to widespread job losses. Instead, he claimed that AI will improve Americans’ standard of living to the point that a household with two earning members could depend on just one income.
Bezos stressed that AI will boost productivity in the US economy. Recently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also dismissed the fears related to AI led “job apocalypse” as “complete nonsense.”
