10 Thai Startups Join OpenAI-Backed AI Programme

OpenAI and Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) have launched an eight-week AI programme involving 10 local startups.

The programme’s first cohort includes five startups focused on healthcare and wellness and five working in education. The participating companies are CARIVA, Wello Food, Dietz, Precisionize, FitSloth, Curico, insKru, Floaino, EasyKids Robotics and Globish.

Called the OpenAI x MHESI AI Accelerator, the programme will provide startups with mentoring and technical guidance. OpenAI said in a statement that it marks the company’s first public-private partnership with the Thai government focused on supporting local startups.

The programme is being delivered with Thailand’s National Innovation Agency (NIA), Mahidol University and Techsauce. It will conclude with a Demo Day in Bangkok in November.

The cohort was selected in collaboration with NIA, the Ministry of Education and the MHESI innovation network. It also includes teams that participated in the AIAT × OpenAI Codex Hackathon Bangkok earlier this year.

“This accelerator connects Thai founders with government, universities, investors and domain experts, while combining Thailand’s research and talent strengths with OpenAI’s advanced AI capabilities and global experience, so that promising innovations can move from prototype to implementation,” said Professor Dr Yodchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
