French AI company Mistral and Saudi Arabia’s HUMAIN have entered into a partnership to expand artificial intelligence infrastructure, develop advanced AI models and deploy AI solutions across Saudi Arabia.

Under the collaboration, the companies will work on developing and localising advanced AI models, with an initial focus on cybersecurity and voice technologies. They are also planning to develop frontier AI models with strong Arabic language capabilities.

According to a release by Mistral, the partnership is valued at hundreds of millions of euros. Mistral will explore using HUMAIN’s data centre infrastructure to support growing local computing needs.

Both the companies are also planning to develop a joint go-to-market strategy in Saudi Arabia focused on bringing advanced AI solutions to regulated industries.

The partnership will focus on sovereign AI, which allows organisations to keep control of their data, computing infrastructure, AI models and operations. The company mentioned that this approach is particularly important for sectors such as financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, cybersecurity, and the public sector, where security, compliance, resilience, and operational autonomy.

“Mistral and HUMAIN believe that supporting AI innovation in the region requires both the compute capacity to meet demand over time and the open, customizable AI models that allow organizations to innovate on their own terms. This collaboration will support long-term AI innovation, performance, cost control, and operational sovereignty,” the release said.
