European AI Office Opens Recruitment to Strengthen AI Act Enforcement

The hiring covers technology, legal, operations and paralegal roles, with a particular emphasis on technology specialists.

The European AI Office has opened recruitment across technology, legal, operations and paralegal roles, with around 40 contract agent opportunities expected during 2027 to strengthen enforcement of the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act.

Expressions of interest are being invited for four profiles: Technology Specialist, Legal Officer, Operations Specialist and Paralegal. The Office is particularly seeking technology specialists, including AI engineers, security engineers, risk-area specialists, AI evaluators, forecasters and compute infrastructure governance specialists.

The positions are based in Brussels, Belgium, and expressions of interest will be accepted until 8 September 2026.

European AI Office Director Lucilla Sioli said on LinkedIn that the Office is hiring across a wide range of profiles, particularly technology specialists.

The recruitment follows the implementation of most of the rules under the EU’s AI Act, which took effect on 2 August 2026.

Established within the European Commission in 2024, the AI Office plays a key role in implementing the EU AI Act, particularly the rules governing general-purpose AI (GPAI) models. As of 31 July 2026, it employed more than 125 staff, including technology specialists, administrative assistants, lawyers, policy specialists and economists.

Selected candidates will initially be offered one-year contracts, with the possibility of extensions for up to six years.
