The Indian IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday released the New Delhi Declarations endorsed by over 88 countries during the recently concluded 2026 AI Impact Summit, centered over democratization of AI resources for economic and social good.
According to Vaishnaw, the New Delhi Delhi Declarations have been guided by the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all).
“The declaration emphasizes on strengthening international cooperation and multistakeholder engagement, respecting national sovereignty and advancing AI through accessible, and trustworthy frameworks,” read an official release from the Press Information Bureau, Government of India.
The five day AI Impact Summit 2026 at New Delhi from February 16 to 20 saw over 500 AI industry leaders, tech giants, world leaders and academicians from all over the world, flocking to New Delhi.
The New Delhi declaration has been endorsed by over 88 countries including USA, U.K. Russia, China, European Union, Australia, Japan, UAE, Saudi Arabia among others, according to the Indian government.

The summit centered around the impact of AI adoption in key sectors and a shared vision for an AI embedded future. However, like other past global summits, it failed to result in any binding commitments and rather focused on voluntary commitments between nations when it comes to AI.
The summit also witnessed geo-political fissures with China conspicuously absent from the summit and the US insisting that it does not believe in any “global governance” of AI.
“The Declaration is structured around seven key pillars, forming the foundation of global AI cooperation that are Democratizing AI Resources, Economic Growth & Social Good, Secure & Trusted AI, AI for Science, Access for Social Empowerment, Human Capital Development and Resilient, Efficient & Innovative AI Systems,” read a release from the PIB.
