Indian deep-tech company Vigyanlabs launches FEMTO, a sovereign AI infrastructure platform designed to provide high-density AI computing using air cooling and advanced thermal and power management.
FEMTO is designed as an integrated “AI-in-a-Box” platform combining GPU computing with AI infrastructure capabilities, including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, orchestration and power management.
The FEMTO platform was launched through Kasvin, a joint venture involving Krishnaa Advanced Systems (KAS), a subsidiary of Krishna Buildestates Pvt Ltd (KBE), and Vigyanlabs. KAS has committed Rs 100 crore towards the FEMTO platform, aimed at serving enterprises, government organizations and other users across the country.
According to Vigyanlabs, which is based in Mysuru city in the southern Indian state of Karnataka, FEMTO eliminates the need for water-based cooling and additional liquid-cooling infrastructure, simplifying the deployment of AI computing systems, and claims to reduce energy consumption by up to 50%.
In a post on X, former ISRO chairman Dr S Somanath, who was the chief guest at the launch, said, “With up to 32 PFLOPS of AI compute, integrated GPU cloud, virtualization, orchestration, MLOps/LLMOps and model serving, FEMTO-4 is a significant step towards sovereign, scalable and energy-efficient AI infrastructure.”

Somanath also noted that, when combined with Vigyanlabs’ sustainable Micro Data Center in Mysuru, which he said achieves a PUE of less than 1.3 with zero water usage, FEMTO demonstrates a potential model for India’s edge-to-data-centre AI ecosystem with lower energy consumption, reduced operating costs and data sovereignty.
One of FEMTO’s first deployments is at Cynefian’s Rural AI Micro Data Center in Gundlupet, Karnataka, which Cynefian describes as India’s first such facility and says is powered by FEMTO. Cynefian founder Sreenidhi G S D said, “The future of AI should not be limited by geography.”

He said the company has also launched a suite of indigenous AI and digital tools hosted on the infrastructure, with the deployment intended to extend AI computing capabilities and tools beyond major technology hubs.
He said FEMTO’s compact, self-contained architecture could support private AI, local inference and enterprise applications closer to where data is generated and used. “That opens up possibilities across agriculture, education, healthcare, rural enterprises, and local innovation,” said Sreenidhi.
On sustainability, Sreenidhi said FEMTO’s compact architecture and air-cooled design, combined with Cynefian’s focus on water-free operations, could support a more resource-efficient AI infrastructure model for rural areas.
