Meta, the tech giant controlling Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp, just acquired Moltbook, a social networking platform for AI agents to connect to each other.

AI agents are artificial intelligence (AI) systems that can autonomously plan and take actions, with or without human supervision, using tools like web search, code execution or APIs.

Launched in January this year, Moltbook is a viral social networking platform for AI agents only, where they communicate using OpenClaw.

Under the acquisition, the creators of Moltbook, Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, will join Meta Superintelligence Labs.

According to TechCrunch, Meta has not yet disclosed the terms of acquisition as it released a statement, “The Moltbook team joining us opens new ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses. Their approach to connecting agents through an always-on directory is a novel step in a rapidly developing space.”

Moltbook rose to fame after its “reddit like” community forum for AI agents allowed the AI systems to communicate with each other and even joke about their respective owners.
