A week after suspending new Jev sign-ups due to sudden increase in demand, TypeSafe AI announced Monday that new registrations are now allowed for the ‘system one’ AI model that is designed to make structured, probabilistic decisions.
The AI Lab’s co-founder Diogo Almeida informed that while new signups have been reinstated, new users will not be provided free $5 in credit (120 million tokens) due to “a few bad actors were making it a bad time for everyone.”
good news: ANYONE CAN SIGN UP 💪
bad news: we had to temporarily disable the free credits (just for new users) – we really want to figure out how to get people playing with jev, but a few bad actors were making it a bad time for everyone 😢 https://t.co/SwmQhZwSPa

The company also informed that they are working to bring back free credit system.
On September 21, TypeSafe AI, a San Francisco based AI lab, launched Jev, first ‘system one model’– a class of AI models that do not generate text on probability basis like LLMs but replies with a choice, or a score or a yes/no probability, using the training method ‘Reinforcement Learning for Calibrated Decisions (RLCD).
The AI lab announced free usage credit for new sign-ups which swelled up the demand leading to TypeSafe AI announcing temporary suspension of new registrations.
TypeSafe AI came out of stealth on September 15 after its co-founder Almeida, who is former OpenAI researcher, claimed that Jev System One AI model achieves same level of efficiency as an frontier LLM but at a severely low cost.
What is Jev AI Model and How does it work?
Jev is TypeSafe AI’s first “System One” model, designed for fast, structured decision-making rather than generating text.
According to TypeSafe AI, Jev takes unstructured information and returns typed decisions with probabilities and confidence scores. TypeSafe says Jev uses parallel sampling and a new training method RLCD, making it significantly faster and cheaper for software automation.
TypeSafe AI claims Jev can return decisions in 70 to 500 milliseconds and costs $0.042 per million input tokens, while output tokens are free. The company has positioned the model as a low-cost decision making layer for AI agent systems rather than as a replacement for conventional large language models.
Unlike conventional LLMs, Jev does not produce free-form text. It returns structured answers with probabilities and confidence scores, allowing software to use its decisions directly. TypeSafe AI has described this approach as a news category of models focused on “calibrated decisions” for software and AI agents.
