Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s first major political contribution is a $1 million donation to Public First, a US based super PAC advocating greater regulations and safeguards against Artificial Intelligence.

According to latest Federation Election Commission (FEC) filings, Public First, a bipartisan Super PAC (Public Action Committee), has received an individual donation of $1 Million from Amodei on April 5 this year. While Amodei has made political contributions in the past as well, this would be his first seven-figure donation.

Public First, as per its own claim, is a super PAC that “supports candidates committed to defending the public interest against those who aim to buy their way out of sensible AI regulation.

The PAC claims to support candidates who advocate for greater safeguards and regulations around the AI industry.

The $1million contribution by Amodei comes in the wake of Anthropic advocating for a globally coordinated pause on frontier AI research, warning of the dangers of unregulated AI research leading to fully self-recursive AI models.

Founded in December 2025, Public First is led by former Congressmen Brad Carson and Chris Stewart.

FEC Documents about contributions to Public First
Public First has received largest contribution from Dario Amodei of Anthropic followed by individual contributions from employees of OpenAI and Google Deepmind.

FEC filing document viewed by AI FrontPage also shows Public First receiving individual contributions from other AI companies such as OpenAI and Google Deepmind.

The donations of Amodei closely followed the donation of Anthropic of $20 million to Public First Action, a non-profit organization supporting AI policy education.
