In one of the biggest technology deals announced by an Indian IT major in recent times, HCL Technologies has bagged a $1.14 billion contract from a major Europe based Fortune Global 50 company, to deliver an artificial intelligence (AI) driven operating model.

The partnership will create an AI-powered operating model to transform and run the client’s Global Digital Workplace and Enterprise Networks, the company said. The pact would be in effect from July 2026 to December 2031, with an option to extend it for another five years.

HCLTech has clarified that the contract is entirely new business and not a renewal of any existing engagement.

The announcement sparked strong interest among investors, with HCLTech’s shares surging to 6.3% according to a Reuters report.

HCLTech also became one of the top performers in the Nifty 50 stock index after many investors welcomed the company’s announcement of its latest AI-focused strategic partnership with its largest client in Europe (the identity of which has not been disclosed) in a difficult global market for IT services.

The partnership demonstrates HCLTech’s commitment to providing AI-based digital transformation solutions on a large scale. Market analysts believe that this deal is important not only due to its size, but also because it represents the continued transformation of IT service providers.

Many observers expect that increasing numbers of larger-scale, multiyear AI transformation contracts will lead to increased revenue predictability, greater margin stability, and continued support from the Indian government for India as a leader in providing advanced technology products and services to enterprises around the world.

Industry experts believe that this new agreement represents a strong endorsement of HCLTech’s ability to execute AI-based delivery for all types of business solutions. They further state that these types of wins will increase global corporate clients’ confidence in Indian IT companies to lead their most complex digital transformation programs.

The recent announcement further increases HCL Software’s Data and AI division, Actian’s continuing growth from the ongoing demand for data management, data cataloging/metadata management, and data governance solutions due to the proliferation of AI-powered enterprise technology solutions.
